Bottom-Up Innovation

BusinessWeek reports that many corporations are using “wikis” and other web 2.0 technologies to harvest innovative ideas from all levels of their organizations.  For example: “AT&T, the largest U.S. telephone company, uses software sold by Spigit Inc. to let employees generate ideas and bet on which ones will succeed. AT&T now has about 40,000 employees that have signed up for its internal network called The Innovation Pipeline.”

For some reason, I can’t get past the image of the AT&T system including the following pre-recorded message:  “Welcome to the Innovation Pipeline.  Your idea is very important to us.  Please hold the line and your innovation will be recorded in the order in which it was received.”
