College of the Future?
Yesterday, we had a post highlighting the opportunities and threats technology poses for institutions of higher education.
We indicated that unless they dramatically re-think how they promote learning, mid-tier public institutions could be swept away by these changes. What would such a re-thinking look like?
North Carolina State University’s SCALE-UP initiative is a good example. You can learn about it here.
To give you a sense of what they’re up to: the classroom shown on the right is designed to replace a large scale lecture hall. Very interesting stuff!
